| HW Brimi ”“Grandfather” Hans W. Brimi was a farmer and a fiddler. He has traveled extensively both at home and abroad with his fiddle, promoting folk music. He has recorded several albums, and two books have been written about him. He has been awarded several honorary distinctions, among them the King’s Gold Medal of Honor. Annbjorg Lien has written a song for him, which she calls “W”. He has also written music, in which he draws inspiration from the mountain dairy, its natural surroundings, and "Huldra" and the "tusse-people". Grandfather Hans W. was one of the first people to take the initiative to exhibit the dairy and life surrounding it to tourists and guests. He gave accounts to guests about what it was like to a shepherd-boy, how important the milkmaids' work was, and about Huldra. Combined with his lively songs and fiddle-playing, he has made a lasting impression on both young and old. He made a lasting impression on us as well, and we have tried to grasp and further develop what he started, as Grandpa Hans is a great role-model and an inspiration to us all. |
